Suggested walking tour

An easy walk of about 1 km which leads to Andrea Palladio’s masterpieces (and not just them). Finally, a visit to the bar located on the terrace of the Palladian Basilica is recommended.

Palazzo Chiericati

Designed in 1550 by Andrea Palladio for Girolamo Chiericati, the grandiose building was completed at the end of the 17th century in forms substantially faithful to the original design. The Municipality of Vicenza acquired it in 1839 from the Chiericati family, with the intention of collecting the civic art collections. Restored in those years, the Civic Museum was inaugurated on August 18, 1855.

Teatro Olimpico

The Olympic Theater was designed by the Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio in 1580. It is the first and oldest permanent indoor theater of the modern era.

Santa Corona

Palladio Museum

Palazzo Barbaran da Porto was designed in 1569 and built between 1570 and 1575 by Andrea Palladio. Since 1994 the palace is part of the "City of Vicenza and the Palladian Villas of the Veneto" World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

The Palazzo del Capitaniato, also known as the Loggia del Capitaniato or the Loggia Bernarda, is a palace by Andrea Palladio that overlooks the central Piazza dei Signori in Vicenza, in front of the Basilica Palladiana, currently the seat of the city council.

Basilica Palladiana

The Basilica Palladiana is a Renaissance building in the central Piazza dei Signori in Vicenza. The most notable feature of the edifice is the loggia, which shows one of the first examples of what have come to be known as the Palladian window, designed by a young Andrea Palladio, whose work in architecture was to have a significant effect on the field during the Renaissance and later periods.
